Does anyone in your house like basketball and
have the fever for the big game? Basketball season is one of the favorites in
our house.
I am showing you how to host a big game celebration. With over three
weeks of tournament play, it makes any day perfect to host a party. A viewing
party is one of the easiest parties to host. All you need is a TV, viewing area
{large room will work}, food and beverages. Check out the tournament schedule
and a pick a date. Invite your guests and plan your menu.
Game Day food should be easy and simple and your wine list should be too. Black Box Wines are the perfect pairing for my Game Day party. They are not only easily portable but they provide super premium quality wine at half the price of bottled wine. I chose Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio. These three wines pair wonderfully with my food choices and Black Box Wines have won over 50 Gold Medals for its quality...I'd say, that's pretty impressive!
Adding embellishments to your table, such as these basketball glass tags, helps you to carry out your theme throughout your party.

The ease of pouring a glass of wine without the spout dripping afterwards, is a huge plus in my book. Less to clean and more to enjoy.
As an alternative to wine only, add a signature drink for your guests to enjoy, such as a Pomegranate Lime and White Wine Spritzer. So easy to make and so refreshing! It's made with White Wine, Pomegranate seeds, Spritzer and Lime. Easy Peasy!
Here's what you will need:
1 cup Black Box Wines Pinot Grigio
1/2 cup Spritzer {Soda, Seltzer, Club Soda}
1 tablespoon Pomegranate Seeds
1 slice of Lime
Directions:
Add wine to your glass, add your choice of Spritzer and Pomegranate Seeds, Ice and top with a lime slice. Enjoy!
A few of my favorite party ideas and tips:
- Get creative with your food choices. I drew black lines on top of the slider buns to represent basketballs. Make sure you use edible marker pens, I used the bold tip edible pens
- Serve dip in striped cups
- Wrap mason jars in 'nets'. The “nothing but net” mason jar glasses are a great DIY project I will share with you, in a later post
- Cover your table in your team colors or stay neutral with either a black or white tablecloth
- Print and cut out our basketball glass tags and attach them to the bottom of the glasses
- Add our oversized blank bracket backdrop to tie everything together
Now to share my signature Spinach Stuffed Mushrooms with a secret ingredient of Black Box Wines Pinot Grigio.
8 oz. White Whole Mushrooms
1/4 cup Black Box Wines Pinot Grigio
Directions:
- Wash the mushrooms and pop off the stems so you only have the buttons {shown above}
- Place all the buttons facing up in pan
- Pour in Black Box Wines Pinot Grigio
- Saute on medium heat until golden brown, turning once
- Remove from pan and place on flat surface
- Stuff buttons with Spinach Dip
- Serve and Enjoy!
