Behind the Scenes at Amy Atlas – Gearing up for Icing Smiles/Ronald McDonald House Event
I know I talked about the table we are creating for the Ronald McDonald House in conjunction with Icing Smiles and The Pinwheel Project. We stopped by The Ronald McDonald House on Thursday and we were so touched by the families. The kids and parents are so strong, and I couldn’t help but think what it is like to be in those shoes since there were kids there my kids age. It was very hard to keep myself composed. As I have mentioned in past posts, cancer is an ugly disease at any age, but with children, it just seems so wrong. Creating a dessert table for these kids and families is the least that we can do, but it is our hope that it will let the kids and families forget about the harsh realities they have to face, if just for a moment. I wanted to give you guys a little glimpse of the inspiration for the table that we are creating.
We chose the color palette above to start with since we definitely have “Spring Fever” and the color palette just makes people happy.
All kids love Candy Buttons and it seemed like the perfect theme for the table given the palette. To tie in the circles from the candy buttons, we are bringing circular patterns to many elements of the design. Below, you can see a first sketch of the amazing cake that Kate from Cake Power is making for the event. Kate and I have changed the design a little, but you can get the idea. Scroll down to see all of the inspiration and contributors.
We have truly been touched by all of the vendors that reached out to us to volunteer to help us.
Jennifer of BellaGrey Designs created adorable tags for all of the desserts on the table.
Candy Warehouse donated a plethora of candy in Spring colors like candy necklaces and pastel nuggets.
Melissa, of Baked by Melissa, is donating some YUMMY cupcakes. See below.
5th Avenue Chocolatiere is donating White Chocolate covered pretzels, Patti Paige is donating pastel cookies, Sonia from Cakes and Goodies is donating macarons like the ones below and NY Cake Pops is donating pastel cake pops.
We want to thank all of the amazing people who are contributing either product or their time for this event. We will share pictures from the event next week.
Did you see our name {highlighted in turquoise} mentioned in Amy's Blog post!!!! I'm over the moon with excitement!!!! Can't wait to share all the photos with you!!!
Have a Super Great Day!!!!!
