BellaGrey Designs: Margaritas
Margaritas

Fiesta Forever! I just love all the bright colors, food and drinks that are traditional to this holiday!

Cinco de Mayo is next week are your prepared for your Fiesta? Our party ideas will show you how to host a true fiesta with ease.

This Cinco de Drinko sign is one of my favorites! Add some fun paper mustaches to your bottles of beer for a whimsical element. I used my Cricut machine to cut mine out.

Our large sign is a perfect fit for a Fiesta! Attach to a foam core board and add colorful festooning - you are good to go!

The DIY tablecloth was so easy to make. I simply purchased 9 large bandanas in the colors I wanted for my party. Then using my sewing machine, I sewed them together along the seams. 15 minutes later, I had a bright and colorful tablecloth!

The recipe for these Spicy Jalapeno Margaritas is coming soon, but you can find the DIY for the Drink Flags here

Dessert is a must at any party! Make a batch of Margarita Cupcakes and let the fiesta continue.  Find the recipe and how to,  here.

Mini party favors, such as these maracas allow your guests to get into the spirit and take them home as a fun reminder of the fiesta.

Don't forget to send your guests home with a pocket sized box of Hot Tamales ~ after all it is a Fiesta! Hot! Hot! Hot!
You can find the entire Fiesta Party Suite printables in our shop here!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Today we are sharing a fun margarita inspired treat ~ Margarita Cupcakes! Perfect for Cinco de Mayo or any spring or summer party or get together!

I'm all for sweet and salty wrapped into one so this treat was a favorite of mine to make!

I even topped it with a delicious lime frosting!

We used a box cake mix {I know, I know} you can use either white or vanilla ~ we chose white and doctored it up a bit with a margarita ready mix, such as this:

Add one of these pouches instead of the water. We just chilled ours in the refrigerator, instead of freezing it. You can also make these without the alcohol, just use the non-alcoholic mix.
Mix your cake as directed on the box, but instead of adding the water, add the margarita mix.
I don't know about you, but I love my margaritas with salt around the rim! Once they are fully baked and cooled we added a frosting rim around the cupcake

and added a mixture of green sugar crystals and salt ~ to get the "salty rim" of the margarita. Then filled in the cupcake with our sour cream lime frosting. We took a store bought {yes, we did} frosting and added a drop of lime essential oil  to add the flavor {you can also add lime zest}.
Cut a lime and twist for the topper and add a cute green striped straw for a fun dimension! We also added a few mustaches to make them more whimsical!

Easy Margarita Cupcake Recipe

1 Store bought box cake mix
3 Egg Whites
1 Cup Pre-Made Margarita Mix
1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
1 Drop Lime Essential Oil
1 Drop Green Food Coloring
**2 Drops Lime juice *In lieu of Lime Essential Oil*
1 Medium Lime
3 Tablespoons Green Sugar Crystals
1 Tablespoon Salt

CUPCAKES: Mix your cake batter according to box instructions, but instead of water add the Pre-made Margarita mix.  Prepare your cupcake pan with cupcake liners. Spoon batter into cupcake liners filling each 2/3 full. Bake as directed on cake mix box, typically about 18-21 minutes or when a toothpick is inserted into center of cupcake it comes out clean.

FROSTING: We used store bought, but you can use a homemade version too. We used a sour cream frosting and added one drop of Lime Essential Oil ~ stir until well blended. Add one drop of green food coloring just to have a tint of the color.

RIM: Pipe a rim of frosting around the cupcake and sprinkle with a mixture of green sugar crystals and salt ~ this gives the cupcake a sweet salty taste.

TOPPING: Cut the lime in slices, then cut the slice in half and cut up to rind. Twist and place on top of cupcake **only do this step if you are serving right away, otherwise place in refrigerator until you are ready to serve.**

Cut a green striped straw in half and insert diagonally into the cupcake.

Cheers!
