A few weeks ago I was informed I needed to make a "homemade" stick horse for my daughter for her upcoming class rodeo! So I searched the craft stores for a pattern and decided, I'm really not a great sewer, so I went online to find a pattern with a step-by-step tutorial!!
Here is the outcome ~ what do you think? Will it pass as a horse? I sure hope so!! I'm pretty proud of my sewing ability on this craft project! She came out super cute, even though she really doesn't have a neck!! And I broke 3 needles while sewing it!! UGH!! I think, for every one's sake, I need to stick to creating party decor & NOT sewing!!
See no neck ~ just all head!!! My daughter was supposed to be involved, so she picked out the horse we were going to make, the material for the snout, ears and of course the color pink!! I dug through all my craft items and found some eyelashes that worked perfectly. She had to have some bling too, so her eyes are crystals. We made her out of a pair of my husband's old jeans with holes in the knees!! Perfectly up-cycled!!
This is what the horse should have looked like:
{See the neck???}
Ours almost looks like this, it just doesn't bend at the neck! I'm not sure what I did or didn't do, but my daughter it happy with it and it's due today, so for now I'll have to be happy with it too! Next time {Oh you know there will be an next time} I'll have to try to figure out how to make the horse's neck!! On the one pictured above in the "should have looked like" photo the eyes are made out of felt, but we opted to use large hot pink buttons and add the bling on top of that! My daughter also, wanted a cowboy hat to fit on the horse's head, but I was unable to find one.
