I don't know about you, but we've got Spring Fever and we are gearing up for Summertime!!! We love being outside until the sun goes down and enjoying the warmer weather.
That is why it's the perfect time to feature our colorful and vibrant Island Style Luau Party we designed and styled for my daughter. So grab your leis and your grass skirts and get ready to party at Isabella's Tiki Hut!

\

We had so much fun designing and styling this party! Kids love to have things that are personalized with their name on it, what better way for the kids to not lose their cup than to have their name on it, of easy finding later. There was only one boy at the party and that was the birthday girl's little brother, so it was only appropriate for him to have his own glass!
We wanted to portray the island feel throughout the party, so leis and grass skirts were used for the  main dessert table.

We asked our ever so talented baker to create a volcano cake for us, Shelley did not disappoint us! The kids had so much fun watching it erupt!

Of course, you can't have a party without all the yummy goodies!

Keeping with the Hawaiian theme, we created these fabulous fruit tarts {tutorial to come}.

We knew we had to have a pig roast!

A few months before the party we ran across these fabulous totem ice trays and we knew instantly they would have to be part of the party. What kid doesn't like Jell-O jigglers?

Our drink table hosted two kinds of beverages for the kids ~ lemonade and Hawaiian Punch in fun shell shaped bowls.

We couldn't resist decorating the utensils too, to match the rest of the decor.

Our mini dessert table held some fun items, like coconuts, "sandy" treats, chocolate seashells and fruit cups with palm tree toothpicks and brown pom-pom "coconuts".  But our favorite item on this table were the beautiful and simply delicious Hawaiian themed cookies by Roni's Sugar Creations!

To say “Mahalo” to the girls for coming, each one took home a lei and a personalized bracelet Isabella had made them.

For entertainment, our prop guy {my husband}, made a limbo for the girls to play; they swam and hula hooped.

We hope you enjoyed the party! It was so much fun.
You can find all of our designs including this party suite in our shop!
This party was also featured on Hostess with the Mostess.

Your best friend is having her first child and you want to throw her a baby shower! Stephanie, from Spaceships and Laser Beams is here to share some tips and ideas on how to shower your best friend!

Party Planning Tips for a Baby Shower.

A new baby on the way and you’re the one hosting the baby shower! Where do you start? If you already know the party location, there are five elements to plan: invites, decorations, menu choices, games/activities, and favors. Frame your thoughts, make a list and you’re on track for party planning!

Decide a Baby Shower Theme

Deciding on a theme will give a pleasing cohesiveness to the entire party. There are so many theme options! To narrow down choices, I’ve found it helpful to consider if the focus is to be on new mom and her preferences or baby and childhood delights. Also determine how casual or elegant you want to make the gathering. Send invitations via the postal service, if possible. “Real” mail is a rarity these days so a fun invitation is gladly received. Use the invite to give your guests a glimpse of the good time you have planned.

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

Your decorations don’t have to be elaborate to be effective but they will certainly contribute to the mood of your festivities. Give guests a visual welcome with banners, a wreath or something that relates to your theme and it will pull them into your celebration. Concentrate decorations on the main food tables and the gift table. In a more casual gathering, two or three decorative elements arranged around the seating area add to the party.

Plan Your Baby Shower Menu

Use your theme to help decide on a menu, too. For example, an elegant English tea would offer lighter fare and quite a different menu than a sports themed bash. Whatever direction you choose, finger foods and easy to eat items are always appreciated. There are lots of games to play at baby showers. Craft activities have become popular options, too. Whatever you choose to do to encourage girl talk and laughter, have enough materials for everyone to participate and make sure you know how to give clear directions for your activities. Sending guests home with a favor is a sweet way to say “thanks for coming”. This is another area where you don’t have to be extravagant to make the gesture special, but pretty ribbon or cute hang tags can add a lot to your parting gift. Organizing details for a baby shower takes effort, but it’s a sweet kind of labor that will always be remembered!

When I was a kid as a special dessert my mom would make Vanilla Cinnamon Ice Cream with hot Apple pie! {my mouth is watering just thinking about it} I decided to make this wonderful yummy dessert for my family today! So I whipped up some Vanilla Cinnamon Ice Cream, using this method:

We purchased our favorite plain vanilla ice cream {half gallon}

Let is soften so you can scoop it into a bowl

Add as little or as much cinnamon as you'd like. We used about 5 tablespoons to ours.

Mix it all together and place back into the freezer to harden.

When you are ready for dessert, scoop it out and place it on your plate with your pie. I like mine on top of my hot apple pie!

And there you have it! It's easy-peasy!!
You have a semi homemade dessert the whole family will love! My kids think I'm an awesome baker! Lol Little do they know!
Enjoy your Vanilla Cinnamon Ice Cream treat!

We'd love for you to share our post with your friends and family!
