The kids and I made these cute little lip and heart shaped cake sandwiches this weekend and wanted to share them with all of you.

We used  Wilton's lips and heart cutters and a mini heart from The Pampered Chef to create these.

Supplies:
1 box Red Velvet cake mix
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
8 oz. cream cheese ~ softened
1/2 cup unsalted butter ~ softened

Here's the how to:

Prepare a box red velvet cake mix according to package directions. Then pour the mixture into a 15"x10" rimmed cookie sheet {flour it & line with parchment paper}.

{will look like this before baking}

Bake this for about 15 minutes, or until you insert a toothpick & it comes out clean. I let it cool for about 10 minutes, then flipped it out onto a large cutting board and peeled off the parchment paper {LOVE this stuff}.  While the cake is cooling, mix the softend cream cheese and butter together, adding the powdered sugar a little at a time {or you'll have a mess like we did :( }. Mix this until it's creamy. After all of this is completed, use your cookie cutters to cut out the hearts and lips, then cut them in 1/2 {horizontally}. Using a piping bag, pipe the cream cheese mixture onto half of the lips and hearts, then top with the remaining lips and hearts. I used my mini heart to cut small hearts out of the large hearts. I sprinkled the top of the lips and hearts with more powdered sugar. Be creative!!  **NOTE: turn the lips and hearts cut sides down, so you don't have the "holes" like we did. It'll look nicer**  Make sure you refrigerate these, otherwise they'll get gooey.

The kids were super proud to show their daddy & they can't wait to share them with our neighbors!

I hope you have a Super Great Day!!!

xoxo,
