Nothing says the Holidays are here, like a large plate of Christmas goodies ~ homemade or not! This time of year, I enjoy hosting or attending cookie exchange parties, so I thought I'd share some tips for throwing a successful cookie exchange or swap party.

When planning the party, you'll want to invite 10 to 12 friends and family, preferably ones who love sweets. The basic idea is, each participant that attends the party makes and brings a few dozen of their favorite holiday cookies, candies or bars. Then at the party, they swap their goodies, with each other, for at least a dozen of the other participant's creations. Some parties I've attended also include their recipe for the certain goody they provided!! This is a great way to get a big assortment of cookies for the holidays without you having to do all the work. Make sure there is plenty of cold and hot beverages for everyone and have each participant "donate" at least a 1/2 dozen to the dessert table, so everyone can have a taste and then take home the ones they like. But most of all have some fun!!

I've created two FREE printable downloads for all of you who want to host a cookie swap or are planning on hosting one.  These are part of our Shiver Christmas Collection that's available in our shop now ~ also seen in the Tots To Teens Magazine Holiday Gift Guide 2011, click here to view the entire guide or here to view our post.
