Tradition - What is it? It's the passing down of elements of a culture from generation to generation.

What are your traditions for Christmas? Do you open all your gifts on Christmas Eve or do you open only one? Maybe you don't open any. Did you start your own tradition or are you continuing the traditions you celebrated as a child?

On Christmas Eve we:
  • attend Mass
  • each child open one gift (new Christmas PJ's)
  • set out Christmas cookies we've decorated for Santa
  • read a Christmas story
  • turn off all the lights in the house except for the Christmas lights and listen to Christmas music
  • then off to bed to wait for Santa
On Christmas Day we:
  • get up early and see what Santa brought us (the kids)
  • open all of our presents
  • play & eat breakfast
  • have a large traditional Christmas dinner with family
  • we eat our "happy birthday Jesus" cake we made the day before
We eat too much, laugh too loud and watch the kids enjoy their gifts!! This is our Christmas tradition.

I would love to hear about your traditions at this time of year.

I hope you have a Blessed Christmas with your family and friends!!!

The magic of the holiday season never ends & the greatest gifts are family & friends!!!

Merry Christmas!!

My husband and I are having a discussion - do we wrap the santa gifts or not? I say we don't wrap, he says we do wrap! I grew up with the santa gifts unwrapped & he grew up with the santa gifts wrapped!! I like them unwrapped so the kids can see right away what santa brought them & he says wrap them so the kids have more to unwrap! I really like the tradition I grew up with.

What do you do? Wrap? or Not? Would love to hear your input!

Today I want to share with you a Transportation Party, for all of those boys out there that love planes, trains and automobiles - this party's for you!!!  We started the party by welcoming the guests. This was a hit!! All the kids thought this was "too cool".

As the guests arrived, we had the parents fill out play "passports" for the kids and sent the kids on the first leg of their trip. We set up 3 "stops" along their travels. Once each "stop" was completed the kids received a stamp in their passports. Of couse the stamps were planes, trains and automobiles to keep with the theme!! The 1st stop was to get a "passport" photo taken:

I took the kids photos, printed them out and placed them in their passports - they thought this was really fun. The next two "stops" were making crafts - a plane and a photo frame, which I placed a group photo of the kids in the frame before they left the party.  Once all the activities were completed they were hungery little travelers.

I created the napkin rings and placed them around the napkins and utensils. I also thought it would be fun to add the party circles to the cups and kept everything in the same color scheme.

The cake came out so cute!! It matched the invitation perfectly too.

And for those that wanted a smaller sampling of cake, decided on cupcakes. Which were topped with the theme of the day toppers!!

And what would a party be without a birthday banner hung high for all to see?

We can't forget the most important part of going to a birthday party for kids - the party favors - which were picked up in the baggage claim area!!! These fun sized party favors included a personalized luggage tag; train whistle; super ball with a plane inside and a transportation duck!! We had so much fun creating this party and it appeared to be a big hit with the kids too!!

Have any of you heard of The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition book? Its wonderful and I LOVE traditions!!

The cute little elf is responsibile for watching the children's behavior and report it to Santa each night. The next morning when the children awake, the elf has returned from the North Pole (with some encouragement from the parents) and rests in a new and different place. To help the children to control their behavior, all it takes is a gentle reminder that "the elf is watching,"

See isn't he cute!!! Don't forget to name him so he's part of your family year after year!!! You can register his name and receive a special response from Santa. So much fun & the kids love this. Visit here to learn more about this wonderful Christmas Tradition!!

Merry Christmas!!!!
